I will be the first to say poetry saved my life. Poetry self help and healing is more what I would call my body of work. It's a bold statement that still rings true for me. I would write the amazing, beautiful, good, the bad the horrible things and as soon as the pen hit the page the feeling was expressed and removed from my mind. A release of things that get stuck within my brain. I know most of us out here struggle with the load we tend to put on ourselves in our minds. Poetry and writing is my way of clearing out these things. It does something when you can see what has been driving you up a wall on paper. To give it life and meaning.
Sharing your thoughts in any form of expression can release the loop you put your mind in. While you may not be gifted as a writer everyone has a form of self-expression it's about discovering your own. I chose to share mine but perhaps yours would be private. It is up to the individual. Whatever method you chose to use you can survive adversity with your outlet and also find clarity there.
Surviving adversity through poetry has become my life mission. I chose I am majestic I survived not only because I feel like those of us who have had the rougher version of this existence feel like we are somehow less than, but because you in fact are majestic. We all are in our own way. I find excitement in the idea that there are still yet so many untold stories that can be told.
I want to help others with my gift, this is why I will be sourcing for the upcoming poetry book "Inspiration for the Collective" I want to tell as many beautiful, challenging and oftentimes untold stories of the readers. I want to continue my art form and help others speak their truths.
If you wish to submit a story for me to read and turn into poetry please do so on the "Inspiration for the Collective" submissions tab on the home screen. Poetry saved my life and perhaps my poetry could also save yours. I truly look forward to hearing the diverse group of stories that I will encounter. I also can't wait to take someone else's hardships and turn them into art and empowerment.
Until the stories start rolling in I will continue to use poetry and writing as an outlet and use my voice for those who are voiceless. I will be the change I wish to see in this world. know you are not alone, and I know how life can be a struggle.
